Plane Crashes in São Paulo - 170 on board
A plane has crashed at San Paulo airport. 170 were on board. Details are emerging. CNN reports that Brazilian TV reports that 10 are dead in one of the buildings. This is from the Financial Times:
An Airbus A320 airliner with 175 passengers on board crashed and exploded as it tried to land at São Paulo’s city centre airport Tuesday night. Early reports suggest there were no survivors.
The incident is the second serious accident to hit Brazilian aviation in less than a year and raises severe questions about the management of aviation infrastructure in the country.
The jet, operated by TAM, Brazil’s biggest airline, appears to have skidded upon landing, flew over a busy highway below and slam into TAM’s cargo building, exploding upon impact.
